PERRYSBURG – Perrysburg Commons, along with Perrysburg High School’s DECA class, hosted a Route 20 Chili
Cook-off on Friday.
Many businesses on U.S. 20 in Perrysburg and Rossford entered their signature chili in hopes for the
title of "The Best Chili on Route 20." Tim Horton’s, Ralphies, Wendy’s, The Oasis, Bob Evans,
Frisch’s, Perrysburg Commons, Perrysburg Township Fire Department, Perrysburg High School’s DECA class,
and Right at Home all had a chili entry.
The winner was Erica Heidinger, Perrysburg Commons’ activity assistant and chauffer.
Heidinger had won the Perrysburg Commons and Heartland of Perrysburg staff chili cook-off a month ago,
and was then chosen to represent their campus in the Route 20 Cook-Off.
Celebrity judges looked at five specific areas: smell, consistency, color, taste, and after-taste.
During the judging several corporate mascots entertained the crowd by having a dance-off.
