Geneva E. VanScoder


Geneva E. VanScoder, 83, of Custar, died at 8:16 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2014.
She was born on June 26, 1931 in Buchanan, KY to the late Bascom and Laura (Curnette) Kelley. On July 8,
1950 she married Gene VanScoder and he preceded her in death on January 30, 2000.
Geneva is survived by six children: Jim (Pauline) VanScoder of North Baltimore, Dan (Debbie) VanScoder of
Rudolph, Roger (Cheryl) VanScoder of Custar, Steve (Amy) VanScoder of Cygnet, Rick (Vivian) VanScoder of
Custar and Debbie (Arnold) Sickmiller of Custar. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 29
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers: Odge, John, Joseph and Ted Kelley and three sisters: Sue
Patton, Charolette Wristel and Dixie Simmons.
Geneva loved gardening, camping and traveling, especially to Amish country.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL
HOME, North Baltimore.
A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, with Pastor
Jon Reynolds officiating.
Burial will follow in New Maplewood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
