AKRON, Ohio (AP) — A northeast Ohio music teacher fired after he posted a racially charged rant on
Facebook has written a book about his experience.

David Spondike self-published the e-book recently, months after being fired from his job at Firestone
High School in Akron.

The Akron Beacon Journal (http://bit.ly/1pOAd7a
) reports the 501-page book is titled "Accidental Racist: What Akron Public Schools and the NAACP
Taught Me." In it, he defends his use of racial slurs and says American has trouble with frank
discussions about race relations.

The 52-year-old Spondike was fired after posting a rant about the behavior of a black youth during
Halloween trick-or-treating in his neighborhood last October.

The book marks his first public comment about the incident.
