Cattle feeding shortcourse plans
Cattle producers are invited to learn about developing cost effective rations, marketing strategies,
feeding corn stalks, increasing carcass gain and more at the cattle feeding shortcourse on Jan. 22,
starting at 6 p.m. at the Wood County Junior Fair Building. Registration is $35 payable at the door or

A second session will be held at the same time and location on Feb. 11.

Farming seminar set
PERRYSBURG – FHR Nutrient Management and Black Swamp Ag, Inc., are sponsoring an all-day agricultural
seminar on Jan. 20 at Holiday Inn French Quarter, Perrysburg.
The program is set to open at 9 a.m. with the last speaker scheduled for 5 p.m.
Advance registration is required.
The schedule includes Jeff Littrell on "Sustainable Agriculture;" John Oolman on "Soil
Fertility and Fertilizers;" Ron Chamberlain, an agronomist for Gypsoil; Rusty Packer on
"Genesys Grain;" John Mayernak with an introduction to "Microbial Life;" George
Kindness on "Nano Technology and Microbial Life to Reduce Plant Stress; and Keith Schlapkohl on
"Tools of the Trade."
There will also be a session on crop nutrient deficiency and symptoms.

ODNR to hold meeting
COLUMBUS – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources will host the Ohio Soil and Water Conservation
Commission’s first quarterly meeting of 2014, which is open to the public.
The 7-member commission will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the ODNR office, 2045 Morse Road, Building E-1,
Columbus.
People interested in attending the Ohio Soil and Water Conservation Commission meeting should contact the
ODNR Division of Soil and Water Resources at 614-265-6610.
