The Elmwood FFA chapter’s Ag Mechanics team were the champions in the Eastern Regional contest held in
Springfield, Massachusetts. Members of the team were Mitchell Beaverson, Jack Hagemeyer and Jay Graham.

The team represented Ohio in the Sept. 13 event. Individually Hagemeyer was the top individual in the
contest, while Beaverson ranked third and Graham was fourth.
The competition sported some of the top teams from 13 states in the Eastern U. S.
During the competition, contestants were confronted with problem solving and skill completion in the
areas of electrical wiring, building construction, machinery calibration, and general mechanical
knowledge. Specific skills included wiring electrical components, laying out a common rafter,
identifying building components, and using a lap top to establish parameters for a planter.
In other chapter news this month, the chapter remained active including attending the Farm Science
Review. On Sept 16 the chapter ventured to London, Ohio and observed as much as they could for a day.
This event let members check out new farm equipment and new technologies available in agriculture. There
were a total of 45 Elmwood FFA members that attended.
