Beaverson earns Gleaner Life Insurance scholarship
The Gleaner Life Insurance Society Scholarship Foundation has announced Mitchell Beaverson as the
recipient of a $1,000 Leonard and Margaret Davis Memorial Scholarship Award.
Beaverson was one of 126 recipients selected to receive a 2014 scholarship award from the Gleaner Life
Insurance Society Scholarship Foundation. In addition, Beaverson also received a $10,000 Just For
Scholars life insurance certificate from Gleaner Life Insurance Society.
A 2014 graduate of Elmwood High School, Beaverson will attend Bowling Green State University majoring in
construction trade.
Terra offers CDL training
FREMONT – Terra State Community College is offering CDL truck training in conjunction with Trainco Inc.
Truck Driving Schools.
Students in this non-credit program will learn the skills needed to take the Commercial Driver’s License.
Each session includes 140 hours of training.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that employment of tractor-trailer truck drivers is projected to
grow faster than the average of all occupations. As the economy grows, the demand for goods will
increase and more truck drivers will be needed to keep supply chains moving.
The first day class will begin on Aug. 25 and the first night class on Sept. 15. Classes each day begin
and end at Terra State. Program fee is $3,995.

Lakota registration offered
KANSAS – Lakota Schools will hold registration Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.
Anyone just moving into the district should attend with the child’s birth certificate, social security
card, immunization records, proof of residency and custody papers. No student will be enrolled without
proper documentation.
