County ‘Throwdown’ planned at Penta

The Wood County Committee on Aging, Inc. (WCCOA) will host the Wood County Throwdown, a challenge among
area chefs and cooks, on Oct. 11 at Penta Career Center, 9301 Buck Road, Perrysburg. Doors open at 11
a.m.
The ‘Throwdown’ will include chefs and cooks from area senior centers, assisted living facilities,
retirement communities and long term care facilities. The talented chefs and cooks will challenge each
other to a three-course food throwdown.
Attendees will get the chance to sample a variety of courses, including appetizers, main courses and
desserts. Appetizers will be served at 11:30 a.m., followed by the main course at 12:30 p.m. and dessert
at 1:30 p.m.
Local chefs and cooks participating in the throwdown include James Price of Sterling House of Bowling
Green; Joseph Hrabovsky of the Wood County Committee on Aging; Adam Foltz of Grand Rapids Care Center;
Randy Urbanowicz of Spring Meadows Extended Care Facility; and Anne Hodulik of Bowling Green Manor.
The champion will be decided upon by celebrity judges, including Doris Herringshaw, Wood County
Commissioner; George Kamilaris of Georgio’s CafĂ© International; and Fred Lefebvre of The Morning News on
1370-WSPD.
Attendees will vote for their favorite as well. That cook or chef will receive the People’s Choice Award.

The Dave Nelson Jazz Trio will entertain.
Only advanced tickets will be sold for this event. Tickets are $5 and are available at all seven Wood
