Hear Otsego performances
TONTOGANY — Holiday concerts will be peformed in the Otsego Local School District High School Auditorium,
all starting at 7 p.m..
High School Holiday Band Concert, including sixth grade, will be Dec. 17 in the auditorium.
The Holiday Choir Concert is Tuesday.
The Holiday Junior High Band Concert with high school jazz band, will be Wednesday.
The Holiday Junior High Choir Concert is Thursday.
Visit mini animals during Lights Before Christmas
TOLEDO – Warrior Echo, an equine assisted learning program from Swanton, will be presenting their
miniature horses and donkeys at the zoo’s main entrance each Tuesday in December during Lights Before
Christmas.
The animals will be located near the panda statues in the Anthony Wayne Trail entry plaza and Warrior
Echo staff will assist guest interactions. The animals will be at the zoo 4-7 p.m. each Tuesday evening.

The local non-profit is launching a new program geared toward children to turn struggle into superpower.
The program will combine veteran mentors with at-risk youth to create meaningful connections with both

Equestrian center open to visitors
LUCKEY — Serenity Farm Equestrian Center is hosting a Christmas Open House on Saturday from 1-3 p.m. This
event will include pictures with Santa as well as family friendly activities.
The center is located at 21870 Lemoyne Road.
Eat pancakes, see Sparky
HASKINS — The Middleton Township Fire Department will hold its annual holiday pancake breakfast on
Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon at fire station No. 1, 101 Main St.
Santa’s helper, Sparky the Fire Dog, will be available for photos. The event is free, but donations are
welcome.
Dinner out benefits Portage park
PORTAGE — McDonald’s benefit night for Enright Park is Dec. 19.
from 4-7 p.m. at the South Main Street.

Community meal held in Perrysburg
PERRYSBURG – A community holiday meal will be held Dec. 18 from 6-8 p.m. at the Quality Inn banquet hall,
10621 Fremont Pike.
This is a potluck-style, free community meal. All are invited and welcome.
It will be hosted by Dustin Decker and other volunteers.
Volunteer with Alzheimer’s Association
The Alzheimer’s Association Northwest Ohio Chapter is seeking to increase the reach of its care and
support services through direct service, community partners and volunteer-powered delivery. By engaging
more volunteers, the group will be able to dramatically increase the number of families who have access
to our programs.
An estimated 32,000 people are impacted by Alzheimer’s disease in Northwest Ohio.

New Holiday 5k at Toledo Zoo
TOLEDO – The new Medical Mutual Polar Paws & Santa Claws holiday 5k offers a race, walk and Kids
Cub Run on Dec. 15 at the Toledo Zoo.
The Kids Cub Run begins at 3 p.m. near the Aquarium and the 5k race/walk at 4 p.m. on Broadway Street.

The 5k course runs through neighborhoods west of the zoo, into Tembo Trail and concludes in Main Plaza
near the dancing lights. Registration includes touch screen friendly gloves, insulated cup, post-race
refreshments along with admission to the Lights display.
Collectible medals will also be provided for the first 600 registrants. Pricing for the 5k is
$45/participant through race day.
The Kids Cub Run is for children up to age 12. Races will be broken down into three age groups and the
course is contained within zoo grounds. Pricing for the Cub Run is $15/participant.
All participants are encouraged to wear holiday-themed attire and light-up accessories. Spectators will
receive discounted Lights admission if through zoo gates by 4 p.m. on race day.
