Catherine Carolyn (Copus) Myers, 83, of McComb passed away at 10:56 p.m., Monday, August 12, 2019, at her
residence. She was born February 17, 1936, on the family farm in Jackson Township, Ohio, Wood County, to
the late James Cloyce Copus and Geneva (Bennett) Copus. She married Allen Myers on February 19, 1955,
and he survives.
Katie is also survived by her son, Darrell Myers of McComb; her daughter, Kay (Mike) DeWeese of Findlay;
her grandchildren Chanelle (Adam) McCampbell of Dublin, OH; Lance (Hannah) DeWeese of Pittsburgh, PA;
and Amber (Dee) Pleasant,of Clayton, NC; her great-grandchildren, Hudson and Harrison McCampbell, Nina
and Tucker DeWeese, Michael Rey and Dominic and Leilani Pleasant.
She is also survived by her sister, Stella Blake of North Baltimore; and sisters-in-law: Mary Copus of
McComb, Edith Myers of Findlay and Patty Conkey of Dublin. She was preceded in death by her brothers:
James, David, Joe and Ed Copus; her sisters: Jessie Brumbaugh, Dorothea Williams, Frances Copus, Helen
Haas, Mildred Williams and Ruth Johnson.
Katie graduated from Jackson Township High School where she was class president and queen of her senior
class. She was a beautiful woman of faith who loved Jesus and was a quiet witness to all who knew her.
She was even more beautiful on the inside. She was an active member of the Hoytville United Methodist
Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school class for many years. She loved helping the
ladies make noodles for the yearly ice cream social.
Katie worked at The Ohio Oil Company after graduating from high school.
She then went to work for Hancock Wood Electric Co-op and retired after 39-1/2 years.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 18, from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Smith-Crates Funeral Home in
North Baltimore, OH. A funeral service will be held Monday, August 19, at 11:00 a.m. at Smith-Crates
Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Wingston Cemetery, Liberty Township.
