COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A 31-year-old central Ohio man has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally
beating his infant son.
A
judge in Columbus sentenced Johnnie Crockett III on Wednesday following
his conviction earlier this month for murder and child endangering.
He’ll have to serve 15 years before he’s eligible for parole.
The Columbus Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1hVWWRh )
reports that his 8-month-old son Iszaac was hospitalized with
critical injuries in February 2012. The baby died from his injuries 10
months later.
Crockett was the only one home with the baby and other children when he called the baby’s mother to say
he wasn’t breathing.
The child’s mother and several family members were in the courtroom Wednesday to support Crockett, who
did not make a statement.
