A Maumee man was killed and two other people injured Saturday in a two-vehicle crash on Ohio 25.
The crash at about 4:50 p.m. on Ohio 25 at Cross Creek Road killed Verlin R. Parker, 70, who was a
passenger in a 2014 Jeep Compass driven by Linda M. Parker, also of Maumee.
Linda Parker suffered serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Mercy St. Vincent Medical
Center, according to the Bowling Green Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The Parkers’ vehicle collided with a 2002 Jeep Patriot driven by Hayley E. Hutchinson, 21, of Whitehouse,
who suffered minor injuries and did not require transportation to a hospital.
The crash occurred when Hutchinson, who was northbound on Ohio 25, swerved to avoid a vehicle turning
onto Cross Creek. She lost control, went left of center and struck the Parkers’ vehicle, according to a
news release.
Both vehicles sustained heavy damage, and no charges have been filed in the crash, which remains under
investigation.
Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor, and all occupants were wearing seat belts.
