Make sure vets donations are being used properly

To the Editor:
On TV, we continue to see ads supporting our wounded warriors. Most of these organizations spend a
significant portion of the donations they receive to pay for these ads, to cover the salaries of their
administrators and for other administrative expenses. These advertising and administrative expenses
could easily consume over 50% of your donation. Only a small portion might actually reach the warrior.

If you want to support our warriors and know that your contribution actually goes to them, consider
supporting projects established by our veteran’s organizations. With the "American Legion Comfort
Warrior Project" 100% of your donation supports our warriors. The AMVETS have the "AMVETS
Freedom and Honor Warrior Transition Workshops" which are designed to help soldiers with
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and others to transition into civilian life. The VFW has programs
that support our troops while they are on the front lines, as they are being discharged and long after
they return.
Therefore, I would encourage you to give and give generously to support our warriors. But, do your
research to ensure that the maximum amount of your donation goes directly to the warriors in need.
