Don’t drink and drive St. Patty’s Day; area agencies providing free rides

Wood County Safe Communities is advising those planning to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day to make sure they
don’t drink and drive.
In Wood County on St. Patrick’s Day last year there were seven total crashes, with two crashes injuring
three persons. Two crashes were non-injury, alcohol-related incidents and the drivers were arrested for
driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The alcohol-involved crashes happened in Bowling Green
with a 20-year-old driver at 1:09 a.m. and in Perrysburg with a 19-year-old driver at 11:55 p.m.
Rides will be available in Bowling Green from various partners to make St. Patrick’s Day safe. The
Bowling Green State University shuttle buses will be running from 7:30 a.m. that day to 2:30 a.m. the
next morning.
The Safe Communities Coalition will be offering free rides in Bowling Green from 7 p.m. on St. Patrick’s
Day to 3 a.m. the next morning. AAA Tipsy Tow will be available county-wide from 6 p.m. on St. Patrick’s
Day to 6 a.m.
Drivers who cannot take advantage of the options above are advised to call a cab or call a friend.
