Elaine Mercer, a lifelong resident of Cygnet, was honored Dec. 13, at the Lakes Golf and Country Club in
Westerville for 40 years of uninterrupted service to Suburban Natural Gas Company, a Cygnet based
business which began operations as The Consumer Natural Gas Company in 1882.  
Suburban is a natural gas pipeline distribution company serving 16,000 residential and commercial
customers in Ohio.  While Mercer has held many positions during her tenure, she currently serves as
Manager forGas Control and Employee Benefits. She resides in Cygnet and spends much of her spare time
nurturing her six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and her sons, Mark and Mathew and her daughter
Heidi.
