Build a bug house
Kids can make a bug house on Saturday at the Home Depot on Main Street.
The program is from 9 a.m. to noon.
Kohl’s Cares recognizes county kids for volunteering
The Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program has recognized 118 Ohio youth, including two from Wood County, for
making a positive impact in their communities through volunteerism.
David Henninger, 18, Millbury, and Joshua Acosta, 6, Pemberville, qualify for the chance to receive a
$1,000 regional scholarship for higher education, which Kohl’s will award later this month.
Of the nearly 200 regional winners, 10 national winners will each receive a total of $10,000 in
scholarships, and Kohl’s will donate $1,000 to a nonprofit organization on each national winner’s
behalf. In total this year, Kohl’s will recognize more than 2,300 young volunteers with nearly $400,000
in scholarships and prizes.

Try out for theater workshop
SYLVANIA – Attention all singers, dancers and actors, ages 10-18.
For the eighth year in a row, the Sylvania Arts Commission Theatre Department is offering a two-week
summer production workshop at the Franciscan Center of Lourdes University, 6832 Convent Blvd.
"King Midas and the Golden Touch," a new musical, will be directed by artistic director Irina
Zaurov, MFA. Auditions will be held for non-alums.
Contact the theatre department ASAP to reserve a spot. Anyone and everyone is invited to audition and
join the workshop but only 25 students will make the final cut. Come and join in on the fun and learn
about what it really takes to put on an authentic theatre production.
The deadline is July 18.The dates of the workshop are July 28-Aug. 9, Monday through Friday from 9 am to
noon.
