PERRYSBURG —Perrysburg’s boys basketball team held Toledo St. Francis to just two second quarter points
on Saturday en route to a 66-54 nonleague victory.
The Yellow Jackets are 9-0.
Perrysburg distributed the ball well and had four players in double figures: Nick Moschetti (21); Nate
Patterson (13); Matt Kaczinski (12); Trevor Hafner (12).
“We saw the court well,” Perrysburg coach Dave Boyce said. “I think we did a nice job finding the open
man.”
After trailing 10-9 after the first quarter, Perrysburg exploded for an 11-0 run to begin the second and
didn’t allow a St. Francis bucket until there were two minutes left in the half.
“We defended well in the first quarter, but we just didn’t hit anything,” Boyce said. “In the second
quarter, we got a few things to drop.
“We defended well the whole game.”
Up 23-12 to begin the second half, Perrysburg ballooned its lead to 17 points by the end of the third
quarter and maintained control for the rest of the game. St. Francis used sharp perimeter shooting to
pull within 11 in the fourth quarter, but Perrysburg always had an answer.
Moschetti, Perrysburg’s leading scorer, erupted for 13 points in the fourth quarter, after being held to
eight points through the first 24 minutes of the game.
“I think he kept his poise and tried to become a passer and hit the offensive boards,” Boyce said. “He
did what any good player does and tried to look for some easy shots.”
Hafner, a constant source of energy for Perrysburg off the bench, had four, 3-pointers.
“I just try to come in and give the team a jump and pick it up on the defensive end,” Hafner said.
“Offensively, I was getting open and I was stepping into my shot and it was just there today,” he said.

Boyce commended Hafner for being a multi-dimensional player off the bench.
“The things is, you never know what he is going to do for you. He can make a defensive play, an offensive
play or he can hit a 3-pointer,” Boyce said.
St. Francis (2-6) used 12 players in the game. Dontay Ellison led the Knights with 14 points.
In the junior varsity game, Perrysburg lost 39-36. Scott Freeman had 17 points for the ’Jackets.
