Ticketing CSX gets results for Rossford

ROSSFORD – A traffic ticket for a CSX train that blocked a main artery in the city apparently has gotten
results.
At Monday’s council meeting, clerk of council Bob Watrol read a letter from the company citing recent
discussions with city officials and spelling out procedural changes that will minimize blockages and
increase cooperation with the city’s public safety services.
Mayor Neil MacKinnon III said the discussions were friendly and productive and thanked the rail company
"for helping us out."
City police issued a summons to CSX in early June for a train blocking Glenwood Road between Bruns and
Buck roads.
At the time Police Chief Glenn Goss said the $500 ticket was intended to get the railroad giant to pay
attention to Rossford residents’ concerns.
Complaints about blocked roads had been on the rise, including one crossing blocked for 27 hours in May.

The blocked crossing forced emergency vehicles to detour around the tracks, sometimes having to take
Interstate 75 to get from one side of the city to the other.
