Student of the Month: 06-05-14


Eastwood High School
Rachel Harper and Logan Browne are the May and April Students of the Month, respectively, at Eastwood
High School.
Harper was president of National Honor Society and Key Club, and also was a member of senior executive
council, People Inc. and the swim team.
She works with the Pemberville Swim Team, the Bowling Green Swim Club and Special Olympics, and is
employed at American Eagle Outfitters.
She plans to attend Kent State University to student fashion merchandising and minor in marketing.
She is the daughter of Matthew and Christina Harper.
Browne earned academic achievement awards every year and maintained a 4.11 gpa. He was a member of
National Honor Society and treasurer of FFA.
He is president of Livestock Unlimited 4-H club and the Wood County Junior Fair Board, and is a member of
the Wood County Livestock Judging Team.
He plans to attend Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas on a full-ride scholarship as a member
of their livestock judging team. He will major in animal science and then transfer to a four-year
college to get his master’s degree in cattle nutrition or genetics.
He is the son of Gary and Aimee Browne.
Bowling Green High School
The Bowling Green Exchange Club and Bowling Green High School has named Kirstyn Harris as the May Student
of the Month.
She ranked sixth in her graduating class.
Her school activities included National Honor Society; French club, of which she was president; Key club;
Model United Nations; drama club; Fiction Addiction, of which she was president; Gay-Straight Alliance;
and the student activities board. She was a member of the girls soccer team and was secretary of her
senior class.
She won awards at the district and state science fairs.
She took first place in the state’s Junior Duck Stamp Art Contest this year and placed second in the same
contest in 2013.
She works at Freeport Hall and is self-employed as a babysitter and quilter.
Harris plans to attend Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania and double major in art and exercise
science with a minor is adapted physical education and business.
She is the daughter of Michael and Lisa Harris.
Otsego High School
Dayna Fackler is the April Student of the Month at Otsego High School.
Also honored were junior Noah West, sophomore Taylor Gonzalez and freshman Madison Kregel.
Fackler was captain of the cross country and track team, captain of the cheerleading squad and class
president of student council.
She also was a member of swing choir, chorale and National Honor Society.
She has been a member of Young Life for four years and is a Sunday school teacher at Calvary United
Methodist Church in Grand Rapids.
She plans to attend the University of Toledo to major in business administration.
Her parents are Rod and Dee Fackler, McClure.
West participates in wrestling, and has earned a varsity letter; marching and concert bands; and is
president of the drama club.
He is a three-year member of the groundskeeping committee at Faith Lutheran Church.
He is the son of Paul and Michelle West, Haskins.
Gonzalez has participated on the equestrian team, cheerleading, student council, softball, chorale and
Knight Link Crew.
She is involved with the Perrysburg Academy of the Performing Arts and the Contemporary Ballet of

Kregel will be president of student council next year, and is a member of junior varsity volleyball and
track. She also is in FFA and is a junior varsity basketball cheerleader.
She is a member of Young Life and is a 4-H camp counselor.
She is the daughter of Matt and Jennifer Kregel, Bowling Green.
