Falcon women golfers receive academic honor
Bowling Green had five players named Women’s Collegiate Golf All-American Scholars, it was announced
Wednesday by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association.
The players were Shelby Wilson, Patricia Holt, Lily Bartell, Hannah Lewis and Mikayla Baer.
Players needed to have a grade-point average of 3.5 or better to be selected.
George, LaVoy recognized for academics
Elmwood High School graduate Brittany George and Eastwood graduate Aricka LaVoy were two of the 28 Owens
athletes who were named to the Ohio Community College Athletic academic team.
George, who plays softball, has a 3.66 grade-point average. LaVoy, who plays volleyball, has a 3.74 gpa.

Brown named Owens assistant
Niccole Brown, who helped lead the Owens Community College women’s basketball program to a national
tournament appearance in 2003-04, has returned to the program as an assistant coach.
She earned an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Owens Community College and a bachelor’s degree
in criminal justice from South Carolina State University, and currently serves as a shift supervisor at
the Department of Lucas County Common Pleas of Work Release.
