Ohio teen OK after police shoot him in legs

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (AP) — A teen is expected to be OK after police in suburban Cincinnati shot
him the legs after he allegedly refused to drop a weapon and then ran away.

It happened Saturday night after officers in Springfield Township responded to reports of a disorderly
crowd and shots fired.

Officers say they saw the 16-year-old boy with a silver handgun, and he ignored orders to drop it before
running away. The teen continued to wave the gun, reports say, and one officer fired several shots,
hitting him in the legs.

He was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Neighbors say it started when a group of young men crashed a teen party and one of them tried to steal a
purse. A fight broke out, and gunshots followed.
