SILVERTON, Ohio (AP) — An 80-year-old man killed on a southwest Ohio highway was a well-known
fund-raising volunteer whose annual "Rubber Duck Regatta" event helped feed thousands of needy
people.

A sheriff’s report said Edwards was standing on the shoulder of I-71 and began walking into traffic. The
cement truck braked and swerved but couldn’t avoid him. He was dead at the scene.
Edwards was a longtime member of the board of the Freestore Foodbank, and oversaw the annual Rubber Duck
Regatta fundraiser for all of its 20 years, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer.
The sheriff’s office said it didn’t know why Edwards was on the highway.
