HOLMESVILLE, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio man is charged with felony child endangerment after telling authorities
he started to suffocate his 8-month-old son because he “couldn’t deal” with the boy’s likeness to his
mother, who lives separately.
A Holmes County sheriff’s detective tells The Daily Record in Wooster (http://bit.ly/1qkfEng ) the man
admitted pressing a hand over the infant’s face and watching him struggle and pass out.
Then he shook the child, who started breathing and survived.
The detective says the baby was taken to a hospital two days later, on May 19, with a bruised face and
bloodshot eyes. The man told medical staff the child had fallen from his arms.
Court records list no attorney for 22-year-old defendant Suntana Chanthakoun. He’s from Big Prairie, a
rural area roughly halfway between Cleveland and Columbus.
