CLEVELAND (AP) — The Ohio Department of Transportation planned to hold a meeting in Cleveland Tuesday to
hear from civic leaders and planners on the importance of public transit.

The Plain Dealer in Cleveland reports (http://bit.ly/10hAc7l ) Tuesday’s meeting is the
first of five scheduled this month across the state as the agency works to develop ways to bring
efficient and cost-effective improvements to transit riders and taxpayers.

Officials say the demand for public transportation in Ohio is increasing. A task force will evaluate
transportation currently in place, demographics and travel trends as it considers potential changes to
public transit in the state.

The newspaper reports public transit spending is currently about 94 cents a year per Ohioan.

The agency plans to hold additional meetings in Findlay, Columbus, Athens and Lebanon this month.
