More deeds, fewer mortgages reported in county

Wood County Recorder Julie Baumgardner has released a report covering the transactions of the recorder’s
office for the second quarter, April 1 through June 30, 2014.
•    1,373 deeds were recorded for this quarter, compared to 1,246 deeds being recorded for the same
quarter last year
•    1,119 mortgages, with a valuation of $714,926,768.62, were recorded for this quarter, compared to
1,503 mortgages, with a valuation of $2,589,498,693.60 being recorded for the same quarter last year.

Numerous other documents were recorded, in addition to the above, for a total of  4,545 documents being
recorded for this quarter, compared to  5,453 documents being recorded for the same quarter last year.

The office paid a total of $247,301.92 into the county for this quarter, compared to $303,024.95 for the
same quarter last year; $94,705.67 of the total for this quarter was paid directly into the county
general fund, compared with $116,106.20 for the same quarter last year; $121,915.25 of the total for
this quarter was paid into the housing trust fund, less 1 percent back to the county general fund by the
state for the timely distribution of the money to the fund, compared with $149,643.75 for the same
quarter last year, less 1 percent paid back to the county general fund.
The remaining balance of $30,681.00 was paid into the recorder’s equipment fund for this quarter,
compared with $37,275.00 for the same quarter last year.
