Traffic blitz set for weekend
The Wood County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting increased patrol through the holiday weekend.
Deputies will pay particular attention to violations such as driving under the influence, failure to
yield and speeding, all of which are leading factors in fatal crashes. There will be zero tolerance for
driving under the influence and seat belt violations.
The traffic blitz is being conducted as a result of grant funding from the Ohio Traffic Safety Office.

Graffiti found at BG park
A vandal who has been leaving graffiti at area parks has struck again.
The Bowling Green Police Division reports that additional graffiti has been found in a portable toiler at
the Wintergarden/St. John’s Nature Preserve.
The marks were discovered Monday but could have happened since Nov. 21.
The marks appeared to be similar to those left during two previous incidents.
That park and spots along the Slippery Elm Trail have reportedly been hit by the same vandal. The suspect
has reportedly been vandalizing the trail for a year. Graffiti incidents have included anti-Obama
scribblings or racial epithets.
Wood County Park District rangers are seeking a person of interest in the incidents, described as an
elderly white male with gray hair and a beard, caught on surveillance footage.

Since May, Sentinel photographers sought to capture the home of each township, village and city fire
department in the county. Their work is on display in the calendar, which gives a glimpse of the
engines, trucks, crews and equipment that keep Wood County communities safe.
