Levis Commons celebrates tree lighting with Santa, carriage rides

PERRYSBURG – The Town Center at Levis Commons invites everyone to the 10th annual Tree Lighting Ceremony
on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.
The festive evening will get underway with the arrival of Santa at 6 p.m. Following his entrance, Santa
will be available for visits in his house near the fountain until 9 p.m. Families are encouraged to
bring a camera to take their own pictures of the occasion.
Horse-drawn carriage rides will return for the season and offer a scenic view of Levis Commons Boulevard.
Carriage rides are available from 6 to 9 p.m. and pick up is located on Chappel Dr. near Schakolad
Chocolate Factory. Cost is $5 per person or $10 per family.
In the spirt of the season, attendees of the tree lighting are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy for
the Lucas County Children Services "Give the Best Gift Ever" campaign. From dolls and puzzles,
to footballs and gift cards, support will help to provide gifts for children ages birth to 18 years old
living under LCCS supervision. The agency is in particular need of gifts for children newborn to 3 years
old, and gift cards for teenagers.
Once Santa has arrived and the carriage rides have begun, the performances on the main stage will begin.
At 7 p.m. dancers from Julie’s Dance Studio will take the stage and entertain audience members with
scenes from the Nutcracker All Jazzed Up. From elaborate costumes to carefully choreographed routines,
Julie’s Dance Studio has been an instrumental part of the Tree Lighting Ceremony since the first event
10 years ago.
At 7:45 p.m., rising Nashville star Caroline Williams will take the stage to perform her newly released
single, "Home for the Holidays." Williams, 17, has a voice beyond her years. Growing up in the
backwoods just outside of Nashville as the daughter of a musician and a writer, she has been inspired by
the world around her. She just finished her first album "Beautiful Day" and her music was
recently featured in a national Subaru commercial. While she enjoys being a musician, she is truly an
all-around creative: a singer, writer, photographer and dancer. Williams is the voice behind the
brand-new Levis Commons theme-song "Your Everyday Getaway" and will sing that during the Tree
Lighting Ceremony as well.
At 8 p.m. the crowd will come together for the countdown to bring over 150,000 lights to life on the
50-foot tree.
