ORIENT, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a grandson of an
84-year-old man was among five people arrested after the killing of the
elderly central Ohio man over the weekend.
A neighbor in rural
Pickaway County, south of Columbus, found Thomas Whitson dead in his
chair Sunday with a gunshot wound to his head. Deputies said several
firearms were missing from the house.
Investigators said five
people were arrested Monday, including one of Whitson’s grandsons,
30-year-old Shaun Lawson. The sheriff’s office says he and the others —
including two 17-year-old boys — are being held on aggravated burglary
and theft charges, with murder charges expected.
Deputies say five of the seven stolen firearms were recovered.
No attorney information for Lawson was immediately available.
