Darrell H. Whetsel, 76, of Fostoria, Ohio, died Monday, March 17, 2014 at Toledo Hospital.
He was born January 14, 1938 in Cygnet, Ohio, to Melvin and Lillian (Short) Whetsel. He married Luella
Faye Chambers on August 18, 1956 in Mt. Zion Church, Wayne, Ohio, and she survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving is a daughter, Cindy (Rex) Reinhart of Fostoria; two sons, Rick (Louan) Whetsel of
Risingsun and Bill (Eileen) Whetsel of Fostoria; two sisters, Kathy Burmeister and
Rosalie Arndt; grandchildren, Candice Fought, Ashley Whetsel, Olivia Braun, Trent and Brody Whetsel;
stepgrandchildren, Darci Graber and Desi Holcomb; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Wayne Whetsel; a daughter, Sharon Kay Whetsel; and two
brothers, Ronnie and Joe Whetsel.
Mr. Whetsel retired in 1996 from the city of Fostoria.
He attended Montgomery High School
Darrell was a lifetime member of the Fostoria United Sportsmen Club and Fostoria Moose Lodge. He was an
avid NASCAR fan and the owner of Whetsel Salvage. He most of all enjoyed spending time with his
grandkids and great-grandkids
The funeral will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home,
Fostoria, Ohio, with Pastor Paul Rutledge officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, March 21, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Wayne, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Wendelin High School or Perry Township Fire Dept. and
the family has ask that all attending services dress casual.
