Charles L. Rath, 82, of Bowling Green, passed away Friday November 7, 2014.
Chuck was born in Corntown, Kentucky to the late Charles and Effie (Rogers) Rath. He married Shirley
Bankey on July 12, 1953 and she survives in Bowling Green.
Also surviving are his children: Tanya (Stu) Sockrider and Douglas Rath, both of Bowling Green;
grandchildren: Sara (Phil) Foos, Amber (Scott) Schutt, Shane (Lauren) Sockrider and Kyle (Christa) Rath;
great-grandchildren Carter, Camille, Noah, Dylan, Grant, and Daniel, baby Charlie on the way; sister,
Gladys Wyrick and his beloved canine companion Max.
He was preceded in death by his sister Madeline Heater and brothers: Robert and Earl Rath.
Chuck proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of the VFW #1148, and the AMVETS #711, where he received AMVET of the year in 2012 and
the Eagles #2180, all of Bowling Green and the American Legion Post 338 of Bradner.
Chuck worked with carpentry and masonry at Bowling Green State University, retiring after 27 years of
service.
Chuck enjoyed spending time with his family and friends whom he loved dearly.
Visitation for Chuck will be on Monday November 10, 2014 from 1 until the time of his funeral service at
2 p.m. in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1460 W. Wooster St., Bowling Green, Ohio
43402. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be gifted in Chuck’s honor to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of
Northwest Ohio.
