The Falcons built leads of 1-0 and 2-1 before going ahead to stay on Mitchell McLain’s goal with 4:57
left in the second period.
BG clinched the win on third-period goals from Brett D’Andrea at 3:41, Jakob Reichert at 6:40, Tyler
Spezia at 12:20 and Pierre-Luc Mercier at 17:16. Spezia scored short-handed, and Mercier scored on the
power play.
Although the Falcons needed the late burst to pull away, they still played well most of the game and
fashioned a 63-18 edge in shots.
The other BG goals were scored by Ben Murphy and Mike Sullivan.
BG goalies Tommy Burke, Tomas Sholl and Chris Nell combined for 11 saves, facing only a handful of
difficult scoring chances.
Because the contest was an exhibition, the result and individual statistics don’t count on BG’s record.

“Overall, I’m happy with the game,” BG coach Chris Bergeron said. “Our effort was really good which, no
matter what, we want to be known for. A bunch of people contributed, and I’m happy with that.”
“For us, when you have 36 games guaranteed, the exhibition game matters, just in terms of playing a game,
being able to compete against somebody else, and being able to hit somebody else.”
BG’s freshmen line of Spezia on left wing, McLain at center and Reichert on right wing played well. The
three combined for three goals and five assists.
The Falcons open the regular-season next weekend with a home-and-home series against 11th-ranked and
former Central Collegiate Hockey Association rival Miami.
