Downtown BG and the BG Arts Council are joining together to produce and market the annual Art Walk. This
year marks the 22nd year of the springtime event.
Barbara Ruland, Executive Director of Downtown Bowling Green said: "The Arts Council has done
wonderful things in the last few years and this partnership will leverage the strengths of the two
organizations to grow a great community arts event."
Brenda Baker, president of the Bowling Green Arts Council said: "We are excited to further our
mission through this partnership with Downtown Bowling Green for Art Walk. This is an excellent
opportunity to nurture and grow arts culture in Wood County. The expertise of Downtown Bowling Green and
their long relationship with the community combined with the specialized skills of the Bowling Green
Arts Council should allow much growth in the coming years in enhancing the visibility and access of the
arts to the greater Bowling Green area."
Sandy Wicks, a long-time volunteer and Art Walk committee member said of the partnership: "Any time
you can move an event forward it’s a good thing. I am excited about joining with the Arts Council to
expand Art Walk."
Art Walk, the event that turns the downtown into a giant art gallery each spring, will bring artists from
across the region to Bowling Green for a one day event on April 26. Artists will display and sell their
creations in many of the businesses downtown. The event will also feature various performers, a quilt
exhibit staged by the Black Swamp Quilters Guild, and a fashion show and luncheon at Sam B’s.
