BGSU lecturer wins award for documentary

Matthew Donahue’s documentary film, “The Amsterdam T-Shirt Project,” which explores souvenir T-shirt
culture in the souvenir T-shirt capital of the world, Amsterdam, Netherlands, was recently nominated in
the Best Documentary category at the 2019 Travel Video Awards at the 2019 National Association of
Broadcasters Show, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Donahue is a lecturer in the Department of Popular Culture at Bowling Green State University.
His documentary landed in the top four in the documentary category for independent filmmakers with some
of the leading travel filmmakers from around the world. Additionally, he received the Peter Rollins
Travel Grant Award from the Popular Culture Association, in relation to the 2019 Popular Culture
Association’s National Conference in Washington DC, where the documentary was featured.
“It really is such an honor to have this film recognized and appreciated by these two institutions, one
related to the field of travel videos and films and the other related to the field of popular culture,”
he said.
