BGSU, Cedar Fair break ground on new resort management building

Bowling Green State University and Cedar Fair will formally break ground on a new facility in downtown
Sandusky that will be home to the new BGSU resort and attraction management program (RAAM). The new
Bachelor of Science program is designed to prepare managers for the multibillion-dollar resort and
attraction industry – which Cedar Fair is widely recognized as a leader in. The degree-completion
program will be offered through BGSU Firelands and students’ final two years of the program will be
taught by BGSU faculty at this new facility.
The program will open to students beginning in Fall 2020. It will be only the fourth such academic
program in the world, and just the second in the United States.
As part of the program, Cedar Fair will provide students on-the-job training opportunities through paid
co-ops at one of their 13 parks across the United States and Canada.
The 78,030-square-foot facility will house academic classrooms and common spaces as well as residential
space with apartment units for rent. The project is expected to generate approximately $12.3 million in
construction and operation payroll over the next six years.
The groundbreaking is today at 3:30 p.m. at 250 E. Market St., Sandusky.
