Eastwood Schools to host Hidden in Plain Sight
PEMBERVILLE — Parents and caregivers often struggle with how to recognize signs and symptoms of drug use
and other high-risk behaviors. More importantly, parents feel ill-equipped to effectively help loved
ones receive necessary care.
This is where Hidden in Plain Sight can help.
The “Hidden in Plain Sight traveling, interactive display will be at Eastwood Schools on May 2. Adults
will tour the display and listen to guest speakers, Ryan Richards, Wood County Sheriff’s Office, and
Kayla DeMuth, a Hancock County health educator, from 6-8 p.m. This event is free to the public.
The display looks like a typical bedroom. However, amidst the normal items are indicators of involvement
in dangerous and/or illegal activity. The audience is encouraged to explore and interact with the
display to become more aware of the dangerous signs of substance use and abuse.
The program aims to achieve the following goals:
Educate: Children are 50 percent less likely to use drugs when a parent or trusted adult talks with them
about drug use.
Engage: Walk through the Hidden In Plain Sight interactive display and identify signs of drug use.
Empower: Provide parents and caregivers with tools to prevent future drug use.
The Hidden in Plain Sight interactive display is sponsored by the Hancock Leadership Class of 2018 in
collaboration with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, Findlay Police Department, Hancock Public Health
and Hancock County Community Partnership.
