Bowling Green middle school students honored

(Editor’s note: This is the third of a four-day
listing of Bowling Green middle school students who were honored.)

The Bowling Green Exchange Club again is recognizing area youth for the good things they’ve accomplished
this past year, in and out of the classroom.
The Exchange Club’s Positive Start program asks teachers to honor students who have done something
positive.
Students must live in the Bowling Green School District and be in grades 7 or 8. The purpose is to honor
students who have achieved “to the best of their abilities” to improve the school and community
settings.
A luncheon will be held Tuesday at Stone Ridge Golf Club to honor all 75 students who represent Bowling
Green Middle School, St. Aloysius Catholic School and Montessori School of Bowling Green.
Bowling Green Middle School – Grade
8

Ethan Helvoigt – Ethan is described as an outstanding student. He is a
football player and runs track for BGMS. He also plays baseball and hockey. He loves to hunt, fish, camp
and go boating. He loves the outdoors. Ethan is a student mentor at BGMS.
Hozhoni Hoskay – Bindi, as she is known at school, is a leader and shares
valuable comments and opinions during class discussions. She has a gift for writing and expresses
herself well in that format. She takes pride in her education and her art. She participates in choir,
The Bobcat Times and the talent show.
Joseph Hover – Joey is appreciated for his quiet sense of humor and his
leadership through his actions. He works well in groups and is a conscientious student. He succeeded in
managing his time in the fall between playing on the football team and holding down a rigorous academic
schedule.
Felicia Jones-Montgomery – Felicia has shown tremendous personal growth in
her eighth-grade year. She is always prepared for class and ready to learn. Because of this preparation
and increased participation, she has achieved noticeable academic growth, especially in her writing.
Colton Keefe – Colton has maintained a 4.0 grade point average while taking
upper-level classes in eighth grade. He is very studious and conscientious about his assignments being
done well and on time. He is a football player and runs track. He competes at a high level and respects
the game in which he is involved.
Andrew Kisor – Even while putting forth his best effort, Andrew encourages
others to do their best. He is a leader in the classroom and in the sports he plays. He is a football
and basketball player and runs track. He builds up his peers and is a positive role model.
Cassidy Kroggel – Cassidy has a talent for painting a picture with her words
in her Honors English class. She is a positive leader and works well with her classmates. She is also a
leader on the volleyball and basketball courts, always putting her best effort into all that she does.

Isabel Lozano – Isabel’s hard work has been noticed as she continues to grow
and progress in her work. She is very polite and honest. She lives with a positive attitude and shares
that among her peers and teachers.
Sydney Maas – Sydney strives for success. She works hard and takes any
opportunity to study or clarify questions with her teachers. She is a member of the school basketball
team and plays soccer. She is described as the type of student that a teacher wants in their classroom.

Madelyn Milks – Maddie is quite an accomplished honors student. She is
responsible for the creation of The Bobcat Times, the middle school’s first newspaper. She is involved
in band, yearbook and each month leads the newspaper group to write articles, recipes, comics and more.
She helps with Girl Scouts and volunteers at the Wood County District Public Library.
Max Nazario – Max is known for including others in activities and
discussions. He gets excellent grades while participating in band, soccer, wrestling, cross country and
track. He always puts forth his best effort and is an excellent role model for his peers.
Audrey Nester – Audrey is a very active eighth-grader. She is a member of
the Girls Who Code group and a cheerleader at BGMS. She is also involved in 4-H and recently earned a
spot in their leadership focus trip to Washington. She volunteers actively in her church.
Aidan Peper – Aidan is a musician. He is a member of the BGMS band, the jazz
band and the orchestra. He takes piano lessons on the side. He is in the OMEA Honors Band and has
received high ratings at the solo and ensemble competition. He is the principal alto saxophone player in
the eighth-grade band. He still finds time to participate in the yearbook committee.
Riley Rader – Busy describes Riley in a nutshell. She is involved in cheer,
dance, choir and orchestra. She is a natural leader. She asks questions, helps classmates and is an
active participant in her education. Her teachers are sure they will hear about great things from Riley
in the future.
Haley Roberts – Haley is a writer for The Bobcat Times school newspaper and
is a member of the orchestra. She is a dedicated and hardworking student, taking care to put her best
effort forward in all of her assignments and work. Her teachers are confident that she will continue to
be successful in the future.
Kendalyn Robinson – Kendalyn is described as patient and always kind. She
volunteers at Bittersweet Farms with persons with autism and has a license for babysitting from the Wood
County Hospital. She is also a member of the BGMS Art Club that meets after school.
Jamie Sayen – Jamie is an accomplished athlete. She plays volleyball and
basketball for BGMS and plays travel basketball outside of school. She has earned four game balls in
basketball which are awarded to those who play well in that game. She received the Coaches Award in
volleyball. She is a hard worker and an excellent student.
Kiara Selby – Her love for the arts is present in everything that Kiara
does. She is a member of the BGMS choir and band. She is artistic and thoughtful and has a true gift for
creative writing and poetry. She is kind and patient and likes to help those in need.
Abigail Slembarski – Abi is always smiling and kind to those around her. She
is a dedicated student and manages her time well between maintaining excellent grades, volunteering at
her church and playing volleyball for both the school and a club league. Her strong work ethic and
positive attitude are appreciated.
Hunter Sockman – Hunter is a positive and cooperative member of his class.
He is involved in 4-H, club lacrosse and his church group. He is also a member of the Order of DeMolay,
a youth leadership organization that strives to shape young men into leaders of character.
