PERRYSBURG — The mayor is recommending that a city detective become the next police chief.
In a statement released Friday, Mayor Tom Mackin said he is recommending Det. Patrick Jones for the next
police chief.
“Pat has served the City of Perrysburg with distinction as a patrolman and detective since 2004,” Mackin
stated. “In an effort to ensure the selection of the right candidate, I endorsed a thorough and
extensive recruitment process. Pat excelled throughout each step of the recruitment. I have complete
confidence that Pat possesses the skills and experience necessary to lead the Perrysburg Police
Division.”
Mackin is also requesting that city council convene a committee meeting of the whole on Tuesday to
consider the recommendation. Tuesday is also council’s regular meeting day.
In February, it was announced that the list of 15 candidates for police chief had been trimmed from to
six.
Former police chief Daniel Paez gave notice of his retirement on Dec. 5, effective Jan. 8.
Retired Perrysburg mayor and former police chief Nelson Evans has returned as a part-time consultant for
the police division Jan. 1, working in conjunction with city administrator Bridgette Kabat.
