Churches ready to celebrate Holy Week

(Editor’s note: With Easter approaching, area churches are holding services during Holy Week.
The following services were reported to the Sentinel-Tribune. Easter celebrations will be published next

Palm Sunday
HASKINS — Bishop Daniel Beaudoin of the Northwestern Ohio Synod –ELCA will visit St. Paul Lutheran
Church, 17050 Middleton Pike, and celebrate worship. The morning begins with the Beaudoin teaching a
Bible Study at 9 a.m. Worship begins at 10:15 in which he will preach and preside in Holy Communion.
After worship, there will be a reception with refreshments in which Beaudoin will answer questions, talk
about the year of scripture and socialize. There is educational time during the worship service for
children. The public is invited.
NORTH BALTIMORE —St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 215 N. Second St., will hold its Palm/Passion Sunday service
at 10:15 a.m.
PERRYSBURG — St. Rose Parish, 217 E Front St., will have special Mass at 7, 8:30 and 10:15 a.m., as well
as noon and 5 p.m.
WESTON — The message at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 20425 Taylor St., by Pastor Peter Heyn will be
Save Us Now.
Maundy Thursday
HASKINS — St. Paul Lutheran Church, 17050 Middleton Pike, will worship at 7 p.m. Brady Dennis will be
recognized at worship, receiving Holy Communion for the first time. The service will conclude with the
stripping of the altar.
NORTH BALTIMORE —St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 215 N. Second St., will observe at 7 p.m.
PERRYSBURG — St. John XXIII, 24250 N Dixie Hwy., will hold its Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7 p.m. It
includes foot washing and the solemn procession to the Altar of Repose. There will be private prayer
after Mass until 10 p.m.
St. Rose Parish, 217 E. Front St., will have a Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7 p.m. with adoration until
10 p.m.
TONTOGANY — Calvary United Methodist Church, 18296 Broad St., will observe from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
WESTON —Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 20425 Taylor St., will have a 7 p.m. service with a message of
Take and Eat: Take and Drink.
The Weston community service will be held at Weston United Methodist Church, 13185 Maple St., at 7 p.m.
The sermon title by Pastor Boyd Shugert will be Community Meal.
Good Friday
There will be a Choral Evensong that is scheduled at 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of
Bowling Green, 1506 E Wooster St. The 45-minute service will include anthems sung by Bowling Green State
University’s Choral Society, organ voluntaries and scripture readings.
GIBSONBURG —The Celebration of the Lord’s Passion will be at 1:30 p.m. at Saint Michael Parish, 317 E.
Madison St.
HASKINS — A Service of Shadows will take place at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 17050 Middleton Pike, at 7
p.m. As the story of Jesu’s last day on earth is told through scripture and hymns, the worship area will
get darker until the death of Jesus on the cross.
NORTH BALTIMORE —St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 215 N. Second St., will observe at 7 p.m.
PERRYSBURG —St. John XXIII, 24250 N Dixie Hwy., will hold its service at 7 p.m. It includes passion of
St. John’s gospel, veneration of the cross and Holy Communion.
St. Rose Parish, 217 E. Front St., will observe with an ecumenical service at 7 a.m. There will also be
an ecumenical service at noon with the site to be determined. The parish will hold its liturgy of the
Lord’s Passion at both 2 and 7 p.m.
TONTOGANY — Calvary United Methodist Church, 18296 Broad St., will hold its service at 6:30 p.m.
