Prep roundup: Late rally propels Perrysburg

PERRYSBURG — Perrysburg rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge Toledo Whitmer 3-2 on
Saturday.
Nate Ball led the Yellow Jackets (6-2) with two singles, an RBI and a stolen base. Clay Denstorff and
Cole Hamby also drove in a run apiece.
Cameron Githens tossed three innings of no-hit relief to pick up the win for Perrysburg.

Eastwood 7, Toledo Start 5
TOLEDO — Eastwood did not take a lead until a big sixth-inning rally pushed the Eagles past Toledo Start
7-5 on Saturday.
Isaac Cherry, who led Eastwood with two hits, ripped a go-ahead two-RBI single in the top of the sixth.
Cherry finished with a team-high three RBIs.
Lake Boos and Noah Hahn — who earned the win — also had two hits each for Eastwood (5-1), which outhit
Start 10-5.

Archbold 5, Elmwood 4
ARCHBOLD — Elmwood took the first lead on Saturday, but the Royals’ offense went cold over the final
three innings in falling 5-4 to Archbold in a nine-inning bout.
Jonathan Duvall was a bright spot for Elmwood (3-2) gong a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate — tallying three
of the Royals’ five hits.
Archbold (5-1) scored one run in the botom of the sixth to tie the game before scoring a fifth run in the
bottom of the ninth to earn the win.

Elmwood 15, McComb 3
McCOMB — Eight of Elmwood’s nine player in the lineup tallied hits on Saturday as the Royals stomped
McComb 15-3 in nonleague play.
Chy Cluck, out of the leadoff spot, and Haley Zimmerman led Elmwood with a game-high three hits apiece.
Cluck — who fell just a single shy of the cycle — drove in a game-high four runs, while Jordan Babcock
and Lainey Bingham each had three RBIs.
Makenna Benschoter struck out two across five innings to earn the win for the Royals. Madison Lyons added
a clean inning of relief.

Archbold 7-2, Otsego 1-3
ARCHBOLD — Eve Serrato accounted for four of Otsego’s 13 combined hits on Saturday as the Knights split
Saturday’s doubleheader against Archbold with a 7-1 loss and a 3-2 eight-inning win.
Serrato had a pair of hits in each game to pace Otsego (4-2), while Shelbey Spurlock kept the Knights
competitive in the nightcap with six strikeouts across 6 2/3 innings.
Araha Burgy had two hits in Game 2 for Otsego and Spurlock notched two hits in the opener.
The Knights scored a run in each of the first two innings of Game 2, and snapped a five-inning scoreless
streak with a run in the eighth inning to split the weekend.
