Prep roundup: BG’s Eligon, Rine win at Duff Madaras Invite

TRACK & FIELD
Ryan Eligon and Eric Rine were the lone Bowling Green High School athletes to nab wins at its home meet
in the Duff Madaras Bobcat Invitational on Friday.
Eligon won the boys 300 hurdles with a time of 41.42, while Eric Rine rolled past Maumee’s Travis Hester
in both the 100 meter and 400 meter wheelchair races with 20.04 and 1:16.39 times, respectively.
BG’s boys finished fourth with 81 points, trailing champion Fremont Ross (128.5 points) by 47.5 points.
The Bobcats’ girls scored 33 points for eighth place. Fremont Ross (161) swept the invitational with a
win on the girls side.
Adam Iler (BG) won the 100 meter preliminary race with an 11.66, but finished fifth in finals with a time
of 11.83.
Bowling Green next competes on Tuesday, April 9 at Anthony Wayne.

Eastwood 10, Van Buren 4
PEMBERVILLE — Eastwood poured on six runs in the fourth inning in rallying to beat Van Buren 10-4 in
nonleague play on Friday.
Justin Pickerel, who walked twice, notched a hit and drove in a game-high three runs to lead the Eagles
(4-1). Pickerel also racked up seven strikeouts across five innings to earn the win for Eastwood.
Lake Boos, with a pair of hits, was the lone Eagles’ player with multiple hits in the win.

Bowling Green 5, Bryan 4
BRYAN — Bowling Green was outhit on Friday, but the Bobcats won the marathon scoring the go-ahead run in
the 10th inning to stay unbeaten with a 5-4 win.
Bryan, who outhit BG 12-8, rallied with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to force extra
innings.
BG (5-0) was led by Kyle Jackson’s three hits. Bryce Hoehner and Luke Roberts each had two hits.

SOFTBALL
Rossford 6, Northwood 4
ROSSFORD — Rossford answered Northwood’s big fifth inning with a strong sixth inning to claim a 6-4
nonleague win on Friday.
The Bulldogs, who improved to 4-1, snapped a small one-game losing skid as it heads into Northern Buckeye
Conference play next week. They answered Northwood’s four-run fifth inning with two runs in the fifth to
retake the lead.
Hannah Pierce racked up a game-high three hits for Rossford, while Val Swope and Emilia Christoff each
drove in a pair of runs. Megan Jarozs tossed all seven innings to earn the win.
