Strauss joins Lourdes Board of Trustees

SYLVANIA — A Bowling Green State University graduate is joining the Lourdes University Board of Trustees.

President Mary Ann Gawelek announced the appointment of Karen Strauss to its board of trustees.
“Board Chair Jim Haudan and I are delighted to welcome Ms. Strauss. The university will definitely
benefit from her expertise in healthcare and other business industries,” Gawelek said.
A chief administrative officer for ProMedica, Strauss is responsible for the leadership and direction of
system strategic planning, marketing, communications, public relations and human resources development.
With more than 35 years of experience in strategy and marketing development and deployment, Strauss is
respected for her expertise in brand management, customer relationship management and disciplined cost
control optimization.
Prior to ProMedica, she served as president and general manager of Masco Cabinetry in Ann Arbor,
Michigan, a business unit of the Fortune 500 Masco Corporation and as vice president of Merillat
Industries.
Strauss earned a bachelor of arts degree in marketing and Spanish from BGSU and a master of business
administration degree from Oakland University.
