Pesky Critters is set for Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at Carter Historic Farm 18331 Carter Road. Learn about
common visitors with a naturalist and how to coexist with them from pest control expert Bill Lorenzen of
Rid’Um Wildlife Control.
Greenhouse Help (Pi Day) will be held Thursday from 1-3 p.m. at J.C. Reuthinger Memorial Preserve, 30730
Oregon Road, Perrysburg. Help grow native plants that will go into the parks and preserves. All tools
are provided. No experience is needed. Leader: Stewardship staff Please register for volunteer

Archery Skills: M-Archery Madness is set for March 16 from 1-3 p.m. at the Arrowwood Archery Range, 1126
Linwood Road. Beginning archers build their skills in this fun and instructional program, where we’ll
focus on body posture and aiming, eventually progressing to moving ball targets! All archery equipment
provided, personal gear welcome (inspected at program). Cost: $5/$3 FWCP.
Learn to be S.A.F.E. on March 16 from 9 a.m.-noon at W.W. Knight Nature Preserve: Friends’ Green Room,
29530 White Road, Perrysburg. Learn women’s self-defense information from a park officer and increase
your awareness of self-defense tactics and allow you to practice the physical aspects of self-defense.
Cost: $5.
Spring Equinox – Full Worm Moon – Woodcock Wander is set for March 20 from 7:30-9 p.m. at Slippery Elm
Trail: Cricket Frog Cove, 14810 Freyman Road, Cygnet. As the sun sets a very special bird begins
preparing for one the best aerial courtship displays in North America. He goes by names such as:
bogsucker, timberdoodle, mudbat and many more. We will listen for nocturnal wildlife, and gaze at a sky
full of stars.
PiPs – Preschoolers in the Parks: What Does the Fox Say? will be held March 22 from 10-11 a.m. at the
Bradner Interpretive Center, 1491 Fostoria Road, Bradner. Children 3-6 years of age enjoy an activity
and craft while learning about the mysterious, yet musical, fox. Adult companions must remain with
children for this program.
Wildflowers and Wildside Beer and Trivia will be held March 22 from 7-9 p.m. at W.W. Knight Nature
Preserve: Hankison Great Room. Test your knowledge with a great pairing of microbrew and a wildflower
identification competition in a natural setting. Brewmaster Nick Scott will discuss the different beers
offered, including the biology of brewing and beer. Prizes will be awarded to the top three groups in
the trivia contest. Cost: $20 per person/$15 FWCP.
Help with Woody Plant Removal on March 23 from 10 a.m.-noon at Sawyer Quarry Nature Preserve, 26940 Lime
City Road, Perrysburg. Join in the fight to remove invasive plants from theparks. Gloves and tools

Spring-fling Open Geocaching is set for March 26 from 4-7 p.m. at the Sawyer Quarry Nature Preserve,
26940 Lime City Road, Perrysburg. Track down spring at this open geocaching. Stop by to borrow one of
our GPS units or bring your smartphone with the Google Maps app and search for hidden geocaches in the
park.
Plant and Butterfly Monitoring Training will be held March 28 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Park District
Headquarters, 18729 Mercer Road. Monitor native plants and/or butterflies in Wood County Parks. This is
a great way to get Master Gardener and Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist volunteer hours. Register for

Passport to Paddling: Pre-Season Safety is set for March 28 from 6:30-8 p.m. at W.W. Knight Nature
Preserve. Get ready for paddling this season as we cover the plans, gear, boats, and safety
considerations you’ll need to insure you’re prepared for a safe and enjoyable adventure. Also, get
connected with our schedule of kayak and canoe trips and classes to take your paddling to the next
level.
Maple Sugaring Saturday is set for March 30 from 10 a.m.-noon at Carter Historic Farm 18331 Carter Road.
Come learn where syrup comes from. We’ll see how trees are tapped, how sap is turned to syrup, and have
a small taste test. Date subject to change, depending on weather conditions.
Bird Song I.D. will be held March 30 from 9 a.m.-noon at W.W. Knight Nature Preserve. Learning bird songs
can seem daunting, but we’ll look at ways to improve your skills through field experience and the use of
technology to learn some common bird songs.
