ATHENS — Bowling Green’s women’s basketball team was deadlocked with Mid-American Conference East
champion Ohio entering Saturday’s fourth quarter.
But the Falcons’ fortune ran dry as the Bobcats held BG to a game-low nine points in the frame to earn a
76-68 conference win in the regular-season finale.
BG, which ends the regular season at 9-20 overall and 2-16 in the MAC, will travel to Kent State on
Monday for a MAC tournament opener at 7 p.m. The No. 12-seeded Falcons topped the Golden Flashes 62-49
on March 2.
Ohio, the tournament’s No. 2-seed, improved to 25-4 and 14-4 in the MAC.
Sydney Lambert paced BG’s offense in rattling off a team-best 17 points — on 4 of 7 shooting from deep —
and grabbing game-high 10 rebounds. The senior fouled out of the contest.
Andrea Cecil scored 15 with a career-high six assists and Madisen Parker pumped in a career-best 16
points of the bench for the Falcons.
Cierra Hooks did a bit of everything for Ohio — which scored 10 straight fourth-quarter points — scoring
a game-high 22 and adding four assists, four steals and a pair of blocks. Amani Burke buried five
3-pointers and scored 17. Erica Johnson (15 points) and Gabby Burris (11) both scored double-figures off
the bench.
Ohio scored the game’s first nine points and held BG scoreless for more than four minutes.
Despite the loss, BG played the MAC East champions close for a second time this season. The Falcons fell
to the Bobcats 82-79 on Jan. 26.
