Strong winds have downed trees and power lines and led to power outages across many parts of Ohio.
Thousands of outages were reported as of Sunday afternoon in areas of northeast Ohio, including Cuyahoga
(ky-uh-HOH’-guh) Lake, Lorain, Medina and Summit counties.
There were reports of winds gusts up to 50 mph across Franklin County and surrounding areas of central
Ohio downing trees and power lines, with similar conditions across much of southern Ohio.
The National Weather Service says strong gusts were expected to continue before gradually subsiding
Sunday night.
Meteorologist Kristen Cassady at the weather service’s Wilmington office says gusts of 50 mph were
expected to end by midnight, with gusts from 30 to 40 mph possible in some areas overnight.
Breezy conditions are expected the first part of Monday.
