Genoa Bank, a locally-owned, independent community bank, has been awarded a 2019 Top Workplaces honor by
the Toledo Blade.
“For 116 years we have never lost sight of our number one asset, our employees, who live our mission of
delivering the best banking experience to our customers each and every day. We are proud to be
recognized with this award, and will continue the bank’s commitment to providing a professional and
supportive environment for our high achieving employees,” said Martin P. Sutter, chairman and
president/chief executive officer of Genoa Bank.
The list is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by
research partner Energage LLC, a provider of technology-based employee engagement tools. The anonymous
survey measures several aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution and connection.
“Top Workplaces is more than just recognition,” said Doug Claffey, CEO of Energage. “Our research shows
organizations that earn the award attract better talent, experience lower turnover, and are better
equipped to deliver bottom-line results. Their leaders prioritize and carefully craft a healthy
workplace culture that supports employee engagement.”
Becoming a Top Workplace isn’t something organizations can buy, Claffey said.
“It’s an achievement organizations have worked for and a distinction that gives them a competitive
advantage. It’s a big deal,” he said.
GenoaBank, founded in 1902, is now in its second century of providing banking services to business and
private customers in Lucas, Wood, Ottawa, and Sandusky counties. The bank has assets of $370 million and
operates branch offices in Genoa, Elmore, Maumee,Millbury, Oregon, Port Clinton, Rossford, Sylvania and
Toledo.
