Shadow-themed storytime at library
The Children’s Place of the Wood County District Public Library is offering a special storytime for
babies and toddlers with caregivers on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
The shadow-themed storytime will feature tips from the early literacy initiative Every Child Ready to
Read @ Your Library.
This early literacy initiative encourages parents and caregivers to talk, sing, read, write, and play
with young children every day. Children’s Place staff will share stories about shadows, songs,
conversation, and play.

Tweens, take the challenge
PEMBERVILLE — The Tween Challenge is on at the library, 375 E. Front St., on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
They will created a valentine using beads and heat.
Tween challenges are for students in grades 5-8. Register by calling the library, 419-287-4012. Tweens
will work either individually or as a team to accomplish various tasks based on the theme for the week.

Create a heart candy box
Parents and children can make a heart candy box on Saturday at the Home Depot stores.
Once the box is complete, decorate it with paint and stickers.
The Home Depot stores in Bowling Green and Rossford will host the free kids workshop from 9 a.m.-noon.

All kids get to keep their craft and receive a certificate of achievement, a workshop apron and a
commemorative pin, while supplies last.
Building party in Walbridge
WALBRIDGE — A Lego block party will be held at the Walbridge branch of the Wood County District Public
Library, 108 N. Main St., on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Have fun with Legos
FINDLAY — Let go of those winter blues at the University of Findlay Mazza Museum’s Lego-themed Funday
Sunday at 1:30 p.m. This oversized extravaganza will provide so many activities that it will be held in
the University of Findlay’s Alumni Memorial Union on Frazer Street.
Funday Sunday is the museum’s free, family-friendly community event offered by the museum each month
during the spring and fall semesters. This Let’s Go Lego event will include storytelling, 27 activity
stations, presentations and refreshments. Here are some of the activities planned:
The Greater Toledo Lego Club will be presenting from 3-3:30 p.m.
Findlay author/illustrator T.L. McBeth will have a station and discuss his new book, “Robot In Love.” He
will present at 4 p.m. after the Greater Toledo Lego Club’s talk, and be available for book signing.
UF’s Newhard Planetarium will host two shows at 1:45 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. The planetarium is located just
north of the AMU at Brewer Science Hall.
Bigelow Hill Intermediate School Lego Club, Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, Snapology and many others will
have stations, and the museum’s ever-popular face painting will be offered.
The Mazza Museum and Gift Shop in the Gardner Fine Arts Building will remain open for visitors. Books
will also be for sale at the AMU, including McBeth’s “Robot in Love.”
Dads and daughters invited to BG dance
The Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a Daddy/Daughter Dance on Feb. 15 at the
Community Center, located on 1245 W. Newton Road, from 5:30-8 p.m.
Girls ages 5-13 and their parent/guardian are welcome to get dressed up for dinner, dessert and dancing.
A souvenir photo will also be taken.
The cost is $47 per couple (residents), $52 per couple (non-residents) and $12 for each additional

Celebrate Lunar New Year
Families are invited to join the Wood County District Public Library, 251 N. Min St., to celebrate the
Lunar New Year at 4 p.m. on Tuesday in the Children’s Place and usher in the Year of the Pig.
The Children’s Place staff, along with special guests Lan Li and Xiao Lan from Bowling Green State
University, staff will share stories, songs, crafts, and refreshments, and end with a dragon parade
through the library.

See planetarium show
“Journey to Earth” is playing at the Bowling Green State University Planetarium, starting Sunday through
Feb. 9.
The show is “It’s About Time: A Tale of Secrets of Our Clocks and Calendars.”
The planetarium is a 114-seat public science theater serving BGSU students, area schools and the public
of Northwest Ohio. Set under a 40-foot dome, the state-of-the-art SciDome video system fills the dome
with video that can immerse visitor in the cosmos and can show the sky as it would be seen from any
place on the Earth at any time.
Show times are 7:30 p.m. Sundays, 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays, and 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

Bookaneers talk ‘Chasing Vermeer’
PERRYSBURG — The Bookaneers Book Club, for children ages 8-12, will meet Feb. 7 at 4:15 p.m. at Way
Public Library, 101 E. Indiana Ave. Thursday, February 7, 2019
There will be activities and discussions based off this month’s book, “Chasing Vermeer” by Blue Balliett.

When unexplainable occurrences brings Petra Andalee and Calder Pillay together, strange things start to
happen: seemingly unrelated events connect, an eccentric old woman seeks their company, and an
invaluable Vermeer painting disappears. Before they know it, the two find themselves at the center of an
international art scandal, where no one — neighbors, parents, teachers — is spared from suspicion. As
Petra and Calder are drawn clue by clue into a mysterious labyrinth, they must draw on their powers of
intuition, their problem-solving skills, and their knowledge of Vermeer. Can they decipher a crime that
has left even the FBI baffled?

PERRYSBURG — Pizza and Pages Book Club, for teens, will meet Feb. 8 at 4:15 p.m. at Way Public Library,

This month, the group will be be discussing “From Twinkle, with Love” by Sandhya Menon.
Aspiring filmmaker and wallflower Twinkle Mehra has stories she wants to tell and universes she wants to
explore, if only the world would listen. So when fellow film geek Sahil Roy approaches her to direct a
movie for the upcoming Summer Festival, Twinkle is all over it. The chance to publicly showcase her
voice as a director? Dream come true. The fact that it gets her closer to her longtime crush, Neil
Roy-a.k.a. Sahil’s twin brother? When mystery man N begins emailing her, Twinkle is sure it’s Neil,
finally ready to begin their happily-ever-after. The only problem is that, in the course of
movie-making, she’s fallen madly in love with the irresistibly adorable Sahil.

Enroll for PathStone programs now
PathStone’s new Mentoring For Youth Program is enrolling Bowling Green area youth ages 14-17 years old.

Mentoring For Youth Program strives to increase opportunities for pro-social behaviors, volunteering,
community involvement, and leadership skills through pairing youth with mentors for one-on-one and group
activities.
Pathstone offers free tutoring, networking, and mentoring with screened and trained community and college
volunteers. Groups often meet after school at the office or at the high school and Pathstone can provide
transportation to and from events.
The program also provides connections to resources, workshops, and trainings to families of the youth.
