Home-delivered meals for seniors canceled for a second day

The Wood County Committee on Aging will not deliver meals on Thursday, due to the extreme cold. Today’s
meal delivery was canceled earlier this week.
This decision is made for the safety of seniors, the volunteers who deliver meals throughout Wood County,
and drivers, according to a release by the agency.
A total of 27 routes are delivered Monday through Friday serving 575 homebound seniors daily.
On Tuesday, an additional 460 frozen and shelf stable meals were delivered to home-delivered meal
participants requesting a supplemental meal for this weather situation. Additionally, all home-delivered
meal clients were provided two shelf-stable meals in October for their use should WCCOA be unable to
deliver for a day and drivers verified that these meals had not yet been consumed.
All home-delivered meal participants will receive a phone call from WCCOA staff on Thursday morning to
verify their safety and wellness.
