Pesticide and fertilizer renewals

Pesticide training, safety and education are just some of the programs involved with the Pesticide
Education Program, a part of Ohio State University Extension.
The program is involved with the training of 30,000 licensed pesticide applicators in Ohio. The Pesticide
Education Program provides recertification training conferences, new applicator training workshop,
train-the-trainer programs, training manuals and more. The program also looks to improve practices to
protect humans and the environment by providing educational programs on Integrated Pest Management
concepts, pesticide use, laws and regulations, and environmental stewardship which will enhance the
decision-making of our audiences. Additional information is available at the following website:
http://pested.osu.edu.
Persons applying restricted use pesticides are required to maintain a license issued from the Ohio
Department of Agriculture by passing a written test. Every three years this license is re-certified by
obtaining three hours of continuing education credits.
Persons who have fertilizer certificates can become re-certified by attending a one hour training. This
renewal is on the same cycle as the pesticide license.
Cost of the class is $30 for pesticide and $10 for fertilizer for a total of $40 for both. Fees can be
paid at the door by cash or check payable to Ohio State University Extension. All categories of license
will be covered.
