America Reads Tutoring resumes
The Children’s Place of the Wood County District Public Library is partnering again with Bowling Green
State University for free homework help, tutoring and reading support beginning Monday and continuing
during the 2018-19 school year. Trained tutors will be available Monday through Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
for students in kindergarten-fifth grade.
Scheduled breaks are posted for BGSU semester breaks. BGSU tutors will be available to meet with students
in the Children’s Place Quiet Study Room for about a half an hour (or as needed) as often as a family’s
schedule allows. Adults must remain in the building during tutoring sessions.

“It’s About Time: A Tale of Secrets of Our Clocks and Calendars” is playing at the Bowling Green State
University Planetarium, starting Sunday through Feb. 2.
The show “Planet Quest” ends on Saturday.
The planetarium is a 114-seat public science theater serving BGSU students, area schools and the public
of Northwest Ohio. Set under a 40-foot dome, the state-of-the-art SciDome video system fills the dome
with video that can immerse visitor in the cosmos and can show the sky as it would be seen from any
place on the Earth at any time.
Show times are 7:30 p.m. Sundays, 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays, and 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

Help Me Grow playdate planned
Parents and caregivers with young children are invited to the January Help Me Grow playdate at the
Children’s Place of the Wood County District Public Library, 251 N. Main St., on Monday from 10-11 a.m.

This session, open to everyone, offers stories, playtime and community support resources. For more

Engineers on the run
PERRYSBURG — Homeschoolers’ Marble Run Engineers will be held Monday from 1:30-2:30 p.m. It is for ages
8-12.
In this return of a popular program, students can put their imagination and problem-solving skills to the

NORTH BALTIMORE — Join in Lego play or hear a story at the library, 230 N. Main St.
Lego play is Tuesday at 3 p.m. There will be a preschool storytime on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
Play Kinect on Wednesday at 3 p.m. and Uno on Jan. 31 at 3 p.m.
Lego League Challenges
PERRYSBURG — Lego League: Lego League Challenges, for children ages 4 and older, will be held Tuesday at
Way Public Library, 101 E. Indiana Ave., at 4:15 p.m.
A librarian will give challenges for the kids to complete during the hour-long program.
Have a ball at Way library
PERRYSBURG — The Annual Snow Ball Family Fun Night at Way Public Library, 101 E. Indiana Ave., promises
to be a flurry of fun.
Way will host its annual Snow Ball on Feb. 2 from 7-8:30 p.m. on the main level of the library. This free
family fun night, one of the library’s most popular events, is for people of all ages.
A “super cool” disc jockey will have the youngsters dancing, while miniature golf, basketball,
megablocks, paper airplanes, snowman-stacking and bingo will be available throughout the evening. A
variety of make-and-take crafts will be offered, and refreshments will be served.
The enchanting indoor “ice skating” rink will be back, as well as the Great Way Library Snowball Fight.
Strike a pose and say “freeze!” at Frosty’s Photo Booth where winter-themed props will be on hand for
creating fun photo souvenirs.
No registration is required for this family event. All activities and refreshments are free.
Youth turkey hunting drawing planned
PIONEER — A drawing will be held March 23 at the Lake La Su An Wildlife Area headquarters for youths
interested in turkey hunting, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Youths age 17 and
younger may participate.
Lake La Su An Wildlife Area headquarters is located at 9455 County Road R. Registration begins at 9:30
a.m. and will continue until the drawing at 10 a.m. Youth hunters must possess a valid 2019-20 hunting
license to register. Youth hunters are not required to be present to register. Adults may register a
youth by presenting the youth’s hunting license.
Successful applicants will select an available section of their choice for a three, four, or five day
permit for the youth and spring wild turkey seasons. There are 56 spots (date/section combinations)
available.

The ODNR Division of Wildlife conducts controlled hunts on professionally managed areas throughout the
state for youth. These hunts provide an opportunity for young hunters to learn from their mentors. For
