BG asks for no parking on streets
In anticipation of snow accumulation in excess of 2 inches, residents are asked to refrain from parking
on streets this weekend.
A snow emergency being declared in the City of Bowling Green is imminent for today, based on current
storm forecasts, according to a release sent out by the city on Friday afternoon. Keeping streets free
and clear of parked vehicles is a tremendous help in the snow removal process, allowing the entire
street to be cleared and treated.
If 2 inches of snow is received, a snow emergency may be declared, implementing parking restrictions. As
a reminder, if a snow emergency is declared between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m., vehicles must be
removed from snow streets within two hours of the declaration. If a snow emergency is declared after 9
p.m., vehicles must be removed by 9 a.m. the following morning.
Residents are encouraged to monitor the city’s website, local news, or follow the city on social media
such as Facebook (@cityofbg) and Twitter (@cityofbg). The Sentinel-Tribune will also post updates.

AAA rescued more than 1,750 stranded Northwest Ohio drivers over the past
week

TOLEDO — Since the cold snap began on Jan. 8, AAA’s Roadside Rescue Team came to the aid of more than
1,750 stranded motorists in the Northwest Ohio area – about a quarter of those calls occurred over a
two-day period last weekend.
“The first winter storm often proves to be a challenge for motorists as they tend to forget what it is
like to drive on slippery roads,” said Kara Hitchens, AAA spokesperson. “But despite the high volume of
calls, the Roadside Rescue Team was prepped and ready to respond to calls for help.”
Area meteorologists are forecasting another weekend event and are predicting it will be an even bigger
storm. As the storm moves closer AAA Fleet is expected to activate the Severe Weather Action Plan which
creates an “all-hands-on-deck” scenario for the Roadside Rescue Team.
AAA offers free vehicle maintenance inspections at all AAA Car Centers and membership is not required.
