Try archery, photography and nature journaling with park district

The Wood County Park District is offering the following programs, which can be registered for at
www.wcparks.org or by calling 419-353-1897.
• Open Archery is Wednesday from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Wood County Historical Center, 13660 County Home
Road. Arrive anytime before 7 p.m. to give archery a shot. All archery equipment provided, along with
brief beginner-friendly direction from our certified instructors. Children must be at least 7 years or
older to use our equipment. No registration required.
• A Scrapbooking Retreat is May 6 from 9 a.m.-noon at Beaver Creek Preserve, Barker Retreat Cabin I,
23028 Long Judson Road, Grand Rapids. Led by Friends’ of the Parks members Jill Konst and Ranaye
McLaughlin, participants will make a card and create a page to add to a scrapbook. Supplies and light
refreshments are included.
• Heritage Farm Demo: Meet the Goats is May 6 from 1-4 p.m. at Carter Historic Farm, 18331 Carter Road.
Stop by any time during the afternoon the first Saturday of each month to see farm staff and volunteers
in action working on the farm. Each month’s activity depends upon the season’s progress, so themes are
subject to change.
• Intro to Nature Photography is May 9 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Sawyer Quarry Nature Preserve, 26940 Lime City
Road, Perrysburg. Bring a camera to practice honing photography skills. The group will focus on
practical outdoor use of a camera so wear weather appropriate clothing.
• Nature Journaling will be May 11 from 4:30-6 p.m. at Sawyer Quarry Nature Preserve. The sketchbook for
an outdoor journaling adventure will be provided. Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist Sue Frankforther
is the guide. She’ll share her passion for nature, writing and illustration and get you started.
